About the Role
As a Financial Analyst III at SonderMind, you’ll contribute to our core FP&A activities by supporting financial reporting, planning, and analysis across the business. Reporting to the Director of FP&A, you’ll partner with senior analysts and business stakeholders to deliver insights that help inform strategic and operational decisions. This is a great opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and ready to deepen their skills in consolidated financial analysis and reporting within a fast-paced, mission-driven company.
What you’ll do
- Build and maintain core financial and operational reporting (e.g., monthly/quarterly business reviews, performance dashboards, board reporting material) to surface key trends across revenue, OPEX, and company performance metrics
- Act as a key finance partner to assigned teams or functions by supporting the annual budget and forecast processes, and conducting variance analysis across OPEX, revenue, and personnel
- Lead and execute various strategic and ad-hoc financial analyses to support business initiatives, operational improvements, and executive requests
- Participate in key planning cycles, including annual budgeting and rolling forecasts
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying, proposing, and implementing FPA process enhancements, automation opportunities, and leveraging emerging technologies
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data used in all reports and analyses, and partner effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure data alignment and consistent reporting
What does success look like?
Days 0–30: Learning, Onboarding
- Gain a deep understanding of SonderMind’s business model, core financial drivers, and key revenue and cost dynamics
- Familiarize yourself with core systems, financial tools, and data sources
- Observe and absorb key financial rhythms (MBRs, QBRs, board prep) and the roles of partners across Finance, Accounting, and the business
- Begin supporting ad hoc analysis and report validation to build context and confidence
Days 31–60: Taking Ownership
- Start taking ownership of recurring reporting and modeling tasks, with increasing accuracy and independence
- Deliver a first key modeling or reporting deliverable (e.g., revenue forecast, opex dashboard, or variance analysis)
- Begin surfacing insights and raising questions that show curiosity and an emerging understanding of trends
Days 61–90: Settle in, Drive Impact
- Operate independently across a core set of financial rhythms and reporting processes
- Deliver a complete analysis or initiative with minimal oversight (e.g., supporting a planning cycle, building a model, or refining a forecast process)
- Identify and propose at least one process improvement or automation opportunity to enhance team efficiency or reporting quality
Success Beyond 90 Days:
- You are seen as a reliable point of contact for assigned stakeholders, proactively guiding financial decisions with clear, insight-driven analysis
- You are leading efforts to streamline reporting, improve data integrity, or build scalable models that support future planning
- You consistently contribute high quality, high-visibility deliverables such as board materials or strategic scenario modeling
- You are a culture champion, actively shaping team culture by sharing knowledge, offering feedback, and contributing to the professional development of others around you
Who You Are
- 2–4 years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or a related analytical role
- Strong Excel/Sheets skills with a strong understanding of financial modeling principles
- Analytical mindset with a high attention to detail and a curiosity to understand the “why” behind the numbers
- Demonstrated curiosity with AI concepts, with an interest or experience with their practical application to the day-to-day of FP&A.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-changing environment with evolving processes
- Clear communicator with a collaborative mindset, excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
