ABOUT THE POSITION

Jeenie®️ is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Engineering to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating multiple projects across diverse teams. Your primary focus will be on collaborating with other departments, developing efficient processes, executing effective strategies, and ensuring the timely completion of projects. ABOUT SUCCESS IN THE POSITION
Some of the main initiatives you’ll be part of:

  • Be the direct line manager for the application engineers, data engineers and quality engineers (both contractors and Jeenie employees).
  • Define, implement and streamline engineering processes and improve alignment in processes between multiple teams.
  • Be responsible for the team’s achievement of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual goals, developing and meeting OKR targets.
  • Partner closely with the Product Management, Security, Architecture & other departments to collectively own the functional and technical roadmap.
  • Daily coordination between onshore and offshore engineering teams, internal product management and architecture teams.
  • Lead teams through the process of breaking down high level requirements into well-organized epics, user stories & tasks.
  • Grow the engineering team by hiring and evaluating candidates for onshore and offshore teams.

ABOUT YOU
Here’s what we believe our best applicants bring with them into the role:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience managing engineering teams, including software, quality, data, and cloud engineers, with a proven ability to deliver high-quality results.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile, SCRUM, or Kanban methodologies to drive team success.
  • Strong background in performance management, providing mentorship and fostering professional growth for individual contributors and engineering managers.
  • Supervise and support engineering managers, fostering leadership development, setting clear expectations, and ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Lead geographically distributed engineering teams, effectively managing the challenges of offshore and onshore collaboration to ensure cohesive communication, productivity, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Manage relationships with offshore contractors, cloud vendors, and other software partners, negotiating contracts, ensuring service delivery, and aligning vendor performance with organizational needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing and managing on-call rotation schedules, escalation policies, and alerting protocols to ensure timely response to incidents and system reliability.
    Proven experience with Golang, Vue.js, React Native, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Oversee the implementation and optimization of monitoring and application performance management (APM) tools to enhance system performance and visibility.
  • Collaborate closely with product management and architecture teams to align engineering efforts with business objectives.
  • Experience managing department budgeting to ensure resources are allocated effectively and align with organizational goals.
  • Utilize OKRs and engineering metrics to track progress, measure success, and continuously improve team performance and outcomes.
